Day 252 of 365 Days of Song

Day 252 – Silver Sun – Golden Skin

Recently bough Silver Sun’s debut album. They cam out during the ‘Britpop’ era in the nineties, but weren’t really among the scene as such.

On an advert or the late show
That’s where she goes
She’s got a chat show and she gets old
And she wants to look gold
Every magazine and paper
There’s an interview with her
And she’s got golden skin

Day 251 – Janet Devlin – Time After Time (Cyndi Lauper cover)

Janet has a gorgeously sweet voice.

Lying in my bed I hear the clock tick,
And think of you
Caught up in circles
Confusion is nothing new
Flashback, warm nights
Almost left behind
Suitcases of memories,
Time after

Day 249 – The Verve – Life’s an Ocean

I recently bought the remastered box of the Verve album, A Northern Soul. It’s such a good remix of it. This is a song from the album performed on a live-studio programme back in 1997 – Richard Ashcroft mesmerises as a front-man.

Say that I will see
Something more than I have
There’s something inside of me
Crying out for something else
And if someone hears my scream
Put it in a letter to me

Day 248 – U2 – All I Want is You

Yes, all I want is you.

You say you want
Your love to work out right
To last with me through the night

You say you want
Diamonds on a ring of gold
Your story to remain untold
Your love not to grow cold

All the promises we break
From the cradle to the grave
When all I want is you

Day 246 of 365 Days of Song

Day 246 – The Long Blondes – Separated by Motorways

I’ve not posted for a month, or more, so I’m getting back on with this great single by band from Sheffield  – fronted by the lovely Kate Jackson – which came out in 2006. Great debut single and even greater debut album, Someone to Drive You Home.

At work locked away in the north
I can’t escape from the people and the records I hate
No wonder I’m always 15 minutes late

Wipe your eyes darling, it’s OK
Meet me on the dual carriage way
