Things To Do Before End of Days

Here are some things I’d like to do before the finale:

See Pearl Jam live (again) [  ]

See Deftones live (again) [ ]

Learn to play the guitar for real [ ]

Climb the mountain in my Home-Town to the very top [ ]

Do a bungee jump [ ]

Go to Alton Towers (still not been) [ ]

Sing ‘Light My Fire’ on karaoke and not have the performance compared to Will Young’s version and not the original – and best – The Doors’ version (thanks Mike, that really made my night!!) [ ]

Try to overcome my fear of spiders [ ]

Never attempt to overcome my fear of Cliff Richard (he really is evil) [ x ]

Travel to South America (Argentina in particular) [ ]

Learn Spanish [ ]

Write poetry in Welsh [ ]

Actually ‘read’ James Joyce’s Ulysses all the way through [ ]

Day 220 of 365 Days of Song

Day 220 – Manic Street Preachers – A Design for Life

This would be the ‘End Credits’ song. I find it, sort of, apt…

Libraries gave us power
Then work came and made us free
What price now for a shallow piece of dignity

Day 217 of 365 Days of Song

Day 217 – VAST – Free

This Blast-from-the-past came on a random rock radio channel on youtube. The video has a creepy part with giant spiders…always creeped me out!

It’s time to laugh, it’s time to cry
It’s time to be what you need to be
It won’t be long ’till they are gone
And we can be what we want to be
I’m wanna run from everything
Everything that holds me down
Nothing to win, nothing to lose

You can’t tell me what to do anymore
You can’t tell me what to do anymore
Now I’m free, now I’m free, now I’m free

Day 216 of 365 Days of Song

Day 216 – Jimi Hendrix – Castles Made of Sand

This would be my ‘Falling in Love’ song.

Many moons passed and more the dream grew strong, until tomorrow
He would sing his first war song,
And fight his first battle, but something went wrong,
Suprise attack killed him in his sleep that night

And so castles made of sand, melts into the sea eventually.

Day 214 of 365 Days of Song

Day 214 – Joni Mitchell – This Flight Tonight

According to the random iTunes shuffle selector, this would be the ‘Opening Credits’ song to my movie soundtrack.

You’ve got that touch so gentle and sweet
But you’ve got that look so critical
Can’t talk to you babe you know I get so weak
Sometimes I think that love is just mythical

Up there’s a heaven, down there’s a town
Blackness everywhere any little lights shine
Blackness, blackness draggin’ me down
Come on light a candle in this heart of mine

Day 213 of 365 Days of Song

Day 213 – Temple of the Dog – Hungerstrike

I just found out about the Temple of the Dog tour that’s happening over in America pretty soon. So jealous of you Americanos…

Well I don’t mind stealing bread
From the mouths of decadents
But I can’t feed on the powerless
When my cup’s already overfilled

Day 212 of 365 Days of Song

Day 212 – Marissa Nadler – Pitseleh (Elliott Smith cover)

A great cover – atmospherically different to the original, of which makes this cover work as worthy tribute.

I’m not what’s missing
From your life now
I could never be the puzzle pieces
They say that God makes problems
Just to see what you can stand
Before you do as the Devil pleases
Give up the thing you love

But no one deserves it
