Day 181 of 365 Days of Song

Day 181 – Deftones, Adam Sandler and Brandon Boyd & Mike Einziger (Incubus) – Be Quiet & Drive (Far Away)

This town don’t feel mine
I’m fast to get away-FAR

I dressed you in her clothes
Now drive me far – away, away, away

It feels good to know you’re mine
Now drive me far – away, away, away
FAR away

Day 180 of 365 Days of Song

Day 180 – Lindsay Lohan – I Want You To Want Me

This is just one of a number of guilty pleasures I had to list to a friend today. I don’t feel guilty for being a Lohan fan though!tumblr_loyw8d75EZ1qfxnkpo1_400

Day 178 of 365 Days of Song

Day 178 – Manic Street Preachers – The Girl who Wanted to be God

I’m going to see the Manics perform their Everything Must Go album in full tonight. This is a brilliant Sylvia Plath inspired song which is one of the many gems on this brilliant album.

There are times when you feel hopeless
Just for once for no-one else we are blameless
The dawn is still breaking its heaven is so high
She told the truth, told the truth and then she lied

Day 175 of 365 Days of Song

Day 175 – The Verve – Lucky Man

I chose this because it’s a song about [singer] Richard Ashcroft thanking his wife (Kate Radley) getting him to love himself all through his love for her. I find that really romantic and beautiful.

Something in my own place
I’m standing naked
Smiling, I feel no disgrace
With who I am

Coming and going
I watch you look at me
Watch my fever growing
I know just who I am

Day 173 of 365 Days of Song

Day 173 – Oasis – Stay Young

This was their last great B-Side. After this – from the D’ya Know What I Mean? single – their B-Sides were no longer considered to be better than other bands’ A-Sides. It’s a cracker, and glad I got to see it performed live.

Hey! stay young and invincible
Cos we know just what we are
And come what may we’re unstoppable
Cos we know just what we are
