Day 37 of 365 Days of Song

Day 37 – Those Darlins – Oh God

Band crush. Their third album played constantly last few days.

Well after every toilet seat
And every ash tray of a night
The gas pump sidewalk sort of days
I smell the fumes

I smell them every single night
It was a drunk and steamy shower
You left a message on my phone
When I pressed it to my ear
I heard you whine

Day 36 – Catatonia – Mulder and Scully

I cannot wait for the new mini-series of the X-Files to start in January. Here’s a song written about the show’s famous main-character pairing.

Things are getting strange, I’m starting to worry
This could be a case for Mulder and Scully
Things are getting strange, now I can’t sleep alone

Day 35 of 365 Days of Song

Day 35 – SSQ – Tonight (We’ll Make Love Till We Die)

I meant to post this as my Halloween song but I totally forgot!

For Halloween, I could only choose this delicious pop song – from the iconic horror movie, Return of the Living Dead – featured in a graveyard scene with 80s actress Linnea Quigley, which helped propel her into (undoubted) horror legend and ‘Scream Queen’ status.

In darkness you will find me
I dance among the dead
But very soon I’ll need to hunt the scent of blood instead

Rising from your earthbed
It thickens in the air
A smell both sweet and rancid, I know that you are near

Tonight, we’ll make love till we die
Tonight, we’ll make love till we die

I know you think I’m nasty
But I am no common girl
I once slept with the devil, it was really no big thrill

The passion of the killers
Who lie in wait for me
Just show me my own meaning of death in ecstasy

Tonight, we’ll make love till we die
Tonight, we’ll make love till we die
Tonight, we’ll make love till we die
Tonight, we’ll make love till we die

I want you to seduce me with your terror in the cold
Make love and let me bleed to death before I get too old

I am not your enemy, and surely not your friend
But share with me your morbid love, we are the living dead

Day 32 of 365 Days of Song

Day 32 – Guns N’ Roses – Patience

I Love the last part of the song:

Little patience, mm yeah, mm yeah
Need a little patience, yeah
Just a little patience, yeah
Some more patience, yeah (I’ve been walking the streets at night, just trying to get it right)
A little patience, yeah (Its hard to see with so many around
You know I don’t like being stuck in the crowd)
Could use some patience, yeah (And the streets don’t change but maybe the names)
(I ain’t got time for the game ‘cause I need you)
Gotta have more patience, yeah (Yeah, yeah but I need you)
All need some patience (Ooh I need you, whoa I need you)
Just a little patience is all you need (Ooh, this time, ah)

Day 31 of 365 Days of Song

Day 31 – Teen Suicide – Salvia Plath

A strange song I found via tumblr:

You said you hate yourself
So let me feed you strawberries
Off a plate I bought from a widow
Who was selling her husbands things

And we’ll see if you still hate yourself

If you still hate yourself
I’ll eat you out for an hour in your room

Cause I love giving head

If you still hate yourself
We’ll cut ourselves and swallow
Chunks of broken glass

I don’t care about finishing college

I’ll buy the biggest tv
That my credit card allows me
We’ll watch the food network for the rest of our lives

Day 30 of 365 Days of Song

Day 30 – Deftones – Anniversary of an Uninteresting Event

Remembering a dearly departed friend today, on what would have been his 36th Birthday. Always in my thoughts, buddy.

No more gold lights for the queen earth to keep you warm in your kingdoms
High on the waves you make for us
But not since you left have the waves come
The bar is dead and the rocket’s rain is keeping you wet in your deathbed
so high on the waves you made for us
And not since you left have the waves come… have the waves come…

Day 29 of 365 Days of Song

Day 29 – Smashing Pumpkins – In The Arms of Sleep (Early Live Demo)

I just bought the Mellon Collie deluxe edition, 5-disc package. I love listening to demos of great albums and songs.

Sleep will not come to this tired body now
Peace will not come to this lonely heart
There are some things I’ll live without
